Welcome  Do you love the musty smell of an old typewriter? I sure do! I leave my Smith-Corona Silent portable out on my desk so my room fills with that perfect scent. This is definitely not the reason I collect, though. I just love to collect and use these truly useful machines. They don't crash or have to re-boot like your PC! And, if you regularly write using a typewriter, your writings usually turn out better. They are also nice to look at, and an old typewriter make a good conversation piece if it is unique enough.

Collecting  Ever since 2004, I have been collecting typewriters. First, I started with any working one I found, but then I realized I should specialize on what I spent my money on! I eventually decided that I would collect portables, mainly because that was what I had the most of, and because portables are easier to store and are generally found in better condition than desktop models because they have a case. My oldest typewriter is a 1923 Underwood Champion, and my newest is a 1984 Canon Typestar 6. About the only problem with portable typewriters, is the fact that they aren't as well built in some cases. In 2008, I really got into typewriter collecting. This website is a product of my increased interest in typewriters.

New Website  My website now has a new much-simplified design. This makes it easier for me to manage it, plus it may or may not be more attractive. It certainly is minimalist, to say the least! Also, with the new web hosting service, there are no ads on my Typewriter Pages anymore. There also is a greater allowance of bandwidth per month, as well as more web space. The only drawback that I can think of is the address itself: http://typewriters.uuuq.com. Yes, I got the great "typewriters" prefix, but what is the "uuuq" for? I have no clue, since my web host is Zymic. I guess it is just one of their domains.

Web Design  If you are a typewriter collector, I can design and set up a website for free for you using Zymic, a free web hosting provider that requires no ads to be placed on your web pages. Your website address would be someting like "yourwebsite.uuuq.com." You are allowed a generous 5 Gigabytes of storage and a good amount of bandwidth. Once your website is set up, you will be on your own to update it, though. Contact me for more info at nickbeland@yahoo.com. I will design and set up up to four pages for free, and none more. Each web page must not be more than four screenfuls.

My Home Page  Once you have looked through my Typewriter pages, why not check out my other websites? Go to http://beland.uuuq.com. I also collect roadmaps, and have a website for that, which is called "Roads And Maps."
